Session Two
Intergenerational Icebreaker:
A Few of My Favorite Things

  • Please pick an engaging older and younger woman from two different generations who have some relationship: Mother/Daughter, Children’s Ministry Leader/Student, Youth Ministry Leader/Student, Grandmother/Granddaughter, Spiritual Mother/ Spiritual Daughter.
  • Give them this list beforehand but tell them not to share their answers with the other person.
  • Ask them to arrive at church at 6:30 pm on Friday night to write their answers.
  • Have them sit on the front row so they can quickly hop up on stage.
  • Provide a large spiral sketch book or medium card stock pieces for them to write their answers in this order.
  • Have someone emcee this part and prompt each question. Then, they will flip in order older/younger and announce.
  • It would be great if they could use two microphones on stands to announce their answers in an older/younger popcorn fashion.
  • The idea is to show that we are more alike than different…and where we are different, that makes living life together more fun. We also want to give churches a quick show-and-tell icebreaker they can take back to their churches.
