Christ is our reference point for life-giving servant leadership. Thinking biblically about this call to serve is foundational to living, loving, and leading covenantally. Leading covenantally means leadership and ministry is relational at its core: loving God and loving others. Life-giving leaders and those they serve will both flourish when it is done in the context of community. Independent leadership separated from community runs a high risk of becoming life-taking when it elevates personality, preferences, or tasks above the very people we are called to serve. When we invite others to follow us as we follow Christ, we are deployed as gospel culture makers who strengthen the homes, communities, and churches we are privileged to serve.
