Leadership is often defined by external giftings and personality types. Paul invites us to consider beginning with weakness, neediness, and dependence on Christ. This is the leadership arena where He does His best work at showcasing His power perfected in our weakness. So, friend, if you feel like you are out of your depth, are experiencing compassion fatigue, and are tired of lone ranger leadership, this LT was designed just for you. We will be marinating in 2 Corinthians and seeking to bring the hope of the gospel to weary and worn-out women’s ministry leaders’ hearts.
We will focus on delivering
- Robust discipleship content
- Practical ministry tools and tips
- Meaningful networking
Our annual Women’s Ministry Leadership Training is designed for women who encourage and equip other women in the Church. It is our aim to come alongside local and presbytery women’s ministry leaders, Bible study teachers, and women who are extending care to women in their church.
Who Should Come? Women’s Ministry Leaders, Bible Study Teachers, Presbytery Women’s Leaders, Directors of Women’s Ministry…really any women who encourage and equip other women.

…For those who facilitate women’s Bible studies or teach
Heart Matters: Teaching with Purity and Purpose
Sarah Ivill
If you are called to teach the Bible, it is imperative that you are equipped to make your teaching most effective, by the grace of God for the glory of God. Having the right methods isn’t enough. We need to examine the condition and motivation of our hearts. We also need to understand how to teach the Bible, particularly what it means to teach: sound doctrine, plainly, faithfully, covenantally, wisely, zealously, and sincerely. Finally, we need to understand what it means to love our listeners by praying for them and encouraging their hearts. Join us to discuss highlights from Sarah’s newest book, Heart Matters: Teaching the Bible with Purity and Purpose. Whether you are just beginning to teach the Bible, or have been teaching for decades, Sarah will guide you through important principles and applications, with the aim to steward your teaching gift well for the glory of God.
…For those who come alongside women with care to bring comfort to your own heart as well as others
Where is the Savior When I’m Stuck on Stormy Seas? (Matthew 14:22-33)
Lori Sealy
Whether a dark night at sea or a dark night of the soul, there are times when we find ourselves weak, weary, and wondering when God will bring relief … or if He’ll ever bring relief! Using the story of Jesus walking on the water as the catalyst for our conversation, we will examine how our Savior sometimes comes to us on the very things we think may kill us, as well as what we do while we wait for storms to subside.
…For those who want to prepare your heart with art
Preparing Your Heart with Art
Eden Flora
Join us as we seek to prepare our hearts before the Lord as we enter into Leadership Training. Together we will spend time reflecting on scripture visually. We will use art materials to create artwork to encourage our hearts. No art experience required. Led by Eden Flora, Registered Art Therapist and Regional Advisor to the Mid-South.
Workshops (You will choose 2 workshops)
A Covenantal Framework: Christ-Centered Bible Teaching
Sarah Ivill
As Bible teachers, we have the privilege to teach women how to understand the Word of God through a covenantal framework. Since the covenants structure everything in Scripture and are imperative to a correct understanding of who God is, how we interpret His Word, and how we understand the gospel, we need to better understand this interpretive grid, which is already woven into Scripture. As we look at different portions of God’s Word, we will come to a deeper understanding that Christ is the center of the story, and better understand how to teach the Bible from a covenantal framework.
Celebrating Generations [offered once on Friday morning]
Dr. Bryan Chapell
How can different generations in the church move beyond misunderstandings to a shared mission? In this talk, Dr. Chapell will unpack the generational shifts shaping today’s church. With biblical wisdom and research-based insights, he aims to help us bridge divides, deepen unity, and align our priorities to impact our communities for Christ.
Women’s Ministry 101
Karen Hodge and Susan Hunt
Are you starting a Women’s Ministry from the ground up? Maybe it’s time to revitalize a Women’s Ministry that has lost its way. Either way, it is always a good idea to get back to the basics. This workshop will give the “why” and the “how” of Word-based, relationally driven Women’s Ministry with the aim of strengthening your whole church. And because it is never good to be alone, we will also share practical tips and tools to encourage you towards a team-based approach to life-giving leadership.
Resiliency: Preventing Leadership Burnout [offered once on Friday morning]
Stephanie Hubach
In aviation terms the word “burnout” means “the cessation of operation, usually of a jet or rocket engine.” That means a crash is coming! (You can already envision the downward spiral, right?) Are you the type of leader who throws all of her energy into the tasks before her? Have you ever considered where your fuel source Is coming from? Burnout happens when we exhaust ourselves by relying on the wrong fuel sources, deny that we are finite creatures, or operating under significant and enduring stressors. When all three converge at the same time, burnout can be difficult to avoid. How can we be women who lead with intentionality but not exhaustively; who are empowered by the love of God and the work of the Spirit, not our own passion; and who offer our finite resources in reliance on our infinite God—even in the face of extremely difficult circumstances that are outside of our control? Most of all, how do we bring the gospel to bear on this issue? Come discuss this with one who has learned these lessons the hard way!
Hidden Hope in ‘Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad’ Heartache (Psalm 88) [offered once on Friday afternoon]
Lori Sealy
Psalm 88 is the most sorrowful psalm in all of Scripture—it’s the lament of all laments. Heman, its author, gives us a raw and real example of what it looks like to express ourselves honestly and earnestly when weakness is overwhelming, when hope has been swallowed up by despair, and when the (sometimes isolating) island of ministry makes us feel as if “our only friend is darkness.” Using this sorrowful psalm as a catalyst, we’ll talk about how hope is sometimes hidden and how the good news of the gospel provides the firm foundation for us to be held by hope, even when we’re too weak to hold on!
Gospel Transformation: Beyond Programs…Toward the Spirit’s Lifelong Work in Women’s Hearts
Cheryl Mullis
Rooted in the truth of 2 Corinthians 3, we will explore the Spirit’s work of transforming us “from one degree of glory to another.” Whether serving, teaching, or working as part of a ministry team, our goal is to lift our eyes beyond a programmatic approach to embrace the sacred calling of participating in the Spirit’s transformative work. This is a long-range endeavor, often without immediate visible results, yet it calls us to continually seek God’s grace and faithfully step forward in obedience. Through teaching, discussion, practical ideas, and connection, you’ll be encouraged to walk in grace, faith, and a long-term vision for gospel transformation.
Does Teamwork Really Make the Dream Work?
Susan Tyner
Many hands make light work, right? But what if those hands make leadership feel more like arm wrestling? Teamwork can make the dream work, but not if your ladies are giving the cold shoulder between meetings, back-channeling when things don’t go their way, or just not reading the room that she’s the only one talking! Whether it’s burn out or bickering, cliches or crankiness, excitement without strategy, leadership doesn’t seem worth the lift. The temptation is to just do it ourselves (and make our best friends help). However, there is a better way use a team approach to build sustainability and create new leaders. This workshop will focus on how to build a team and lead it to accomplish ministry goals while developing future leaders and building up your church as a whole.
Compassionate Care: Sharing God’s Comfort with Others
Teri Anderson, Courtney Denton
Suffering is something every believer will face, yet God has not left us alone in our trials. In 2 Corinthians 1:3–7, Paul reminds us that the God of all comfort meets us in our affliction so that we might extend that same compassionate care to others. This workshop will equip you with a greater understanding of God’s comfort in His purposeful affliction, as well as practical ways we can bear others’ burdens through our lives and ministries.
Affinity Groups
For Friday lunch, you will be able to attend an optional affinity group:

Worship Leader
Lori Sealy —“Thro’ many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come ….” John Newton’s words are an apt description of Lori Sealy’s life. Conceived in adultery, nearly aborted, adopted in infancy, abused and later abandoned by her adoptive parents, Lori traveled the road of atheism before being met by Christ’s mercy – and all of these things happened while living with autism. In 2020, her beloved husband of 25 years, Phillip Sealy, died of metastatic melanoma.
Having lived a life of trial upon trial, Lori has had a front row seat in the school of suffering for several decades. Thankfully, she has had a tender teacher in Jesus—the Man of Sorrows who is intimately acquainted with grief and overflowing with “amazing grace.” Her deepest desire as a songwriter, speaker, and worship leader is to make much of the Savior who has shown Himself sufficient in every scene of her story.
Growing up in South Carolina, she now lives in Cullowhee, NC, with her two college-age “children” —Joshua and Elizabeth.

Transportation to Evergreen Lakeside Resort from the airport:
Our Team met at the Evergreen Lakeside Resort in September to plan LT. We experimented with several options to get from the airport, including renting a car, using Uber, and prearranging a car service.
- Get an Uber or Lyft – This is about $50 each way, and if you have several riding with you, it is a good option.
- You can rent a car – Depending on the rate, this is a good option. Usually if you book your car rental well in advance, the price is lower.
- Prearrange a car service – This was more costly.
For those driving, there is a daily entrance fee of $20 to Stone Mountain Park. However, for those staying on the property, you do NOT have to pay; you will say you are with PCA at the entrance booth. (If you are commuting, you will have to pay the fee; we do not have any complimentary passes.)
Check here for answers to often asked questions:
- Do I have to pay to enter Stone Mountain Park? If you are staying on the property, you do not have to pay to get into Stone Mountain Park because it is included in your room rate. At the entrance, tell them you are with the PCA.
- What should I bring? You may want to bring a bag to carry around your notebook, Bible, etc. Always bring a sweater since hotels can be cold! You may want to bring something for breakfast to avoid paying for an expensive breakfast.
- What time should I arrive? If you are flying, your flight should arrive by noon so that you are at Stone Mountain in time for the conference to begin. You may want to consider flying in on Wednesday. There are beautiful trails to spend some time outside.
- What time does it end on Saturday? The last session will end by 10:30 am. If scheduling a flight after 2 pm, you should have enough time to get to the airport.
- Is there a refrigerator in the room? Yes, there are refrigerators in each room.
- How do I get from the airport to the hotel? Unfortunately, we are not able to get bus service on Wednesday or Thursday to go to Evergreen Lakeside Resort from the ATL airport because of so many different flight arrival times. It is best to get an Uber.
- Is there a bus from the hotel to the airport? There are a limited number of seats available on a bus to the airport on Saturday morning, leaving right after the conference ends at 10:30 am. The cost is $25/person.
