Session Three
Box Talk with Our Keynote Themes

- Please pick an engaging older and younger woman who are in two different generations and have some kind of relationship: Mother/Daughter, Children’s Ministry Leader/Student, Youth Ministry Leader/Student, Grandmother/Granddaughter, Spiritual Mother/Spiritual Daughter.
- Give them these instructions ahead of time.
- The idea of a box or container talk is a creative way to quickly share parts of your spiritual journey with everyday items you can find around your house. Think of it like an adult Show and Tell. We will demonstrate how to do this from the front and then link to the box talk guidelines on the Made for More webpage.
Preparing your Box Talk
- Pick a container that is representative of you and your life: I have seen decorative boxes, tote bags, backpacks, bowls, and containers that represent their lives or professions. Example: Mom—laundry basket or mixing bowl; Businesswoman—file box; Athlete—sports bag; Musician—violin case…you get the idea.
- Pick an item for each category below that aligns with our keynotes. Be creative and then practice filling in the sentence below to share. This is done in a popcorn testimony style. We will let the older woman go first, and then the younger woman will share hers.
- Have someone emcee this part introduce the family and explain the categories below that summarize the Made for More video content.
- Divine Design: Pick something (object, art, nature, music, etc.) that fills your life with God’s Creation Beauty.
This _____________ reminds me of the beauty of God’s Creation and fills me with _________.
Ex: This piece of art given to me by my spiritual mother reminds me of the beauty of God’s creation and fills me with hope.
- Gospel Identity: Someone (a picture in a frame) who has taught you or modeled security in finding your identity in Christ instead of things, people, or accomplishments.
Ex: Here is a picture of Susan. She has helped me remember that I need to find my identity in Christ
and being His beloved daughter rather than living like an orphan.
- Walking Each Other Home: Your favorite shoe (tennis, dress, flip flops, etc.) and something a trusted spiritual mother or gospel friend has walked you through and how it shaped you.
Ex: These are my favorite running shoes, and I have loved taking walks with my friends who consistently remind me of what is true.
This has helped me find my footing when my life has been full of many unknowns.
- Rehearsing Truth: This is a favorite verse that reminds you what is true. It could be written on a card, or perhaps you have a piece of art or wall décor that you purchased with the verse on it. We will ask you to read the verse and then say one sentence about how it encourages you to keep walking out of your faith.
Ex: My favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 – “Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
I love this verse because when I am tempted to be distracted by temporal or worldly things,
it lifts my eyes to the end of the story and encourages me to invest in eternal things like God’s Word and His People.
