Presbytery Women’s Ministry
Presbytery Women’s Ministry provides leadership at the presbytery level, seeking to connect, encourage, and equip the women in the local churches in that presbytery.

A WORD FROM KAREN HODGE
Dear Presbytery Women’s Leaders,
Connectional (adj.)—the state of being connected or joined together.
From the inception of the Presbyterian Church in America, our denomination was founded upon the ideal of connectionalism. It was easy at first when the denomination was small because of geography. Now all these years later through the efforts of church planting, the PCA spreads throughout North America and around the globe. During my years of serving in women’s ministry, I have taken great joy as I have benefitted from the women of our denomination exercising their life-giving design in such a way that being connectional was more than mere words, it was a vibrant reality. Presbytery Women’s Ministry has served strategically as a catalyst for meaningful connections. Through equipping and encouraging women to fulfill their God-given design, their lives, homes, churches, and communities have been transformed to reflect the splendor of the gospel. Presbytery Women’s Ministry holds the potential of building a life-giving network of support when many are lonely and isolated.
“Sisterhood is actually a matter of life or death. We really are better together, yet the world, applauds self-orientation: self-reliance, self-promotion, and self-centered behavior. In our sin, we prioritize “me” before “we”. God created us out of the perfect community of the Godhead and declared that it was not good for us to be alone, we are created for community!”– Daughters of the Covenant, Susan Hunt & Barbara Thompson, with Karen Hodge

We are excited to share these resources that have been developed to encourage, support, and assist you in the development and/or leading of a Presbytery Women’s Ministry (PWM). The Women’s Ministry Team for the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) functions under the Committee on Discipleship Ministries (CDM). Members of our team have developed this material with the intent of answering some of your questions about how to start presbytery women’s ministry, develop a strong team, stay focused on doctrinal and theological foundations, encourage participation, and handle challenges. These guiding principles are based on our covenantal values and have been used by other women who have found them to be helpful and encouraging. However, it is a guide that can and should be used with flexibility depending on the stage of development of your PWM. The most important factor in this material is the availability of other sisters in Christ to walk alongside you as you navigate this journey of service. The PCA Women’s Ministry Team prays for you and desires to assist you in any way needed. Please connect with us if we can clarify the information found here, or help you in any way.
